چکیده

Accumulative roll bonding is an advanced manufacturing process, which capable of simultaneously refining the grain size into nanometer regime and different metallic sheet materials. Herein, homogenous aluminum/aluminum as well heterogeneous aluminum/steel laminated metal composite (LMCs) are fabricated. The residual stresses experimentally determined by X-ray diffraction hole-drilling method. Generally, a complex stress profile found in all LMCs. level strongly depends on bonded Compressive induced sheets near surface area. These range from −5 MPa aluminum to −240 steel. In LMCs, compressive up −26 softer layers tensile 30 stronger built up. This where 40 −72 inner harder steel present. Based results obtained it possible directly design material combination or stacking architecture ultrafine-grained LMCs tailor profile.

Application of Pulse Method to Incremental Slitting Measurement of Residual Stresses in Laminated Composites

In this research, the incremental slitting method was employed to determine throughthickness residual stress profile of a carbon/epoxy laminate. The method involves measuring strains at the back surface of the stressed specimen, while a narrow slit is cut by a CNC milling machine progressively from the top surface of the specimen. "Pulse Method" was selected as the computational approach for th...

development of an integral method for determination of non-uniform residual stresses in laminated composites

a new method for determination of residual stresses in the bottom layers of laminated composites is developed. in this method the residual stresses are determined by performing a consecutive drilling of laminated composites in the center of the rosette and recording the strains after drilling each layer. the depth of the hole in each step is equal to the thickness of each layer and the maximum ...

Investigation of Important Parameters in Residual Stress Determination in Isotropic Plates and Laminated Composites by Slitting Method

In the slitting method, a small width slit is created incrementally through the thickness of the stressed specimen and the released strains in each increment are recorded by a strain gauge. Compliance coefficients relate the measured strains to the residual stresses. This paper investigates the important parameters influencing the calculation of compliance coefficients for isotropic plates and ...

A Novel Method to Decrease Micro-residual Stresses of Fibrous Composites by Adding Carbon Nanotube

In this research, a novel method to decrease micro-residual stresses of fibrous composites by adding carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is proposed in detail. The negative coefficient of thermal expansion and the high young’s modulus of CNTs can be utilized to counterbalance the process induced residual stresses in composites. To this end, first, the effects of adding CNTs to the matrix of fibrous composi...

Distribution of Residual Stresses in Polymer Reinforced Carbon Nanotubes and Laminated Carbon Fibers

In this study, the distribution of residual stress in fiber-reinforced nanocomposites is investigated. Fiber-reinforced nanocomposite is composed of three substances: carbon fiber, carbon nanotube (CNT), and polymer matrix. Unit cells in hexagonal packing array with different arrays as unit cell, 3*3 and 5*5 arrays have been selected as suitable for finite element analysis of residual stresses....
